Systems Engineer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Infrastructure and Systems
  • Support, configure, maintain, and upgrade Windows Server environments and related infrastructure
  • Monitor system performance and logs to proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Maintain virtualization platforms (VMware preferred)
  • Assist with server, storage, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Support backup and disaster recovery processes
Network and Wireless
  • Support and maintain network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, routers, and wireless access points
  • Ensure network security, segmentation, availability, and performance
  • Maintain VPN and secure remote access solutions
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues across LAN, WAN, and wireless networks
Cloud and Identity Management
  • Administer Active Directory, Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), and Group Policy
  • Manage Microsoft 365 tenant administration
  • Support and maintain Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager for device configuration, compliance, and policy enforcement
  • Implement and manage MFA, conditional access, and role-based access controls
  • Support hybrid identity environments (on-prem AD integrated with Azu
Security and Endpoint Management
  • Administer and manage the organization’s EDR platform, including configuration, policy tuning, alert review, and response coordination
  • Maintain endpoint protection, patch management, and system hardening standards
  • Assist with vulnerability remediation and security best practices implementation
  • Support security incident investigation and response efforts
  • Ensure systems align with company security policies and standards
Application and Systems Support
  • Support and maintain phone/VoIP systems
  • Provide technical guidance for line-of-business applications
  • Troubleshoot production system issues and coordinate with vendors as needed
Operational Support
  • Respond to escalated Help Desk tickets involving servers, networking, cloud, and security
  • Perform remote troubleshooting for users and remote locations
  • Support remote connectivity including laptops and mobile devices
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, system diagrams, and procedures
Planning and Vendor Coordination
  • Work with IT leadership and department managers to plan infrastructure improvements
  • Assist with project planning, budgeting, and vendor coordination
  • Participate in evaluating new technologies and solutions
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4–7 years of experience in systems administration or systems engineering roles
  • Experience working in hybrid on-prem/cloud environments
Technical Skills
Strong experience with:
  • Windows Server
  • Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Microsoft 365
  • Azure / Entra ID
  • Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager
  • Network infrastructure (switches, firewalls, routers, wireless access points)
  • VPN and secure remote access technologies
Experience supporting:
  • EDR platforms and endpoint security tools
  • Patch management and system hardening
  • Virtualization platforms (VMware preferred)
Working knowledge of:.
  • Network security principles and segmentation
  • Backup and disaster recovery concepts
Soft Skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative mindset with strong vendor coordination skills
Preferred (not required)
  • Microsoft or Azure certifications
  • Network certifications (Network+, CCNA)
  • Security certifications (Security+, Microsoft Security, etc.)
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting
