Bristol Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Advance Bristol Foundation Announce Strategic Affiliation to Strengthen Community Impact
BRISTOL, Va./Tenn. — The Bristol Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the Advance Bristol Foundation (ABF) today announced a strategic organizational affiliation designed to deepen collaboration, align community investment, and accelerate high-impact initiatives across the Bristol region.
This affiliation formalizes a shared commitment to advancing the long-term prosperity of Bristol, Tennessee and Virginia by bringing together leadership, resources, and strategic focus to drive measurable outcomes in workforce development, economic vitality, and community revitalization.
The Bristol Chamber of Commerce and Foundation have long served as catalysts for regional growth—championing business success, talent development, and community leadership. The Advance Bristol Foundation, a private-sector-led initiative, was established to identify and invest in projects that strengthen economic competitiveness and quality of place.
Through this affiliation, both organizations will enhance their collective ability to identify, fund, and implement transformational initiatives while maintaining the distinct strengths that have defined their success.
Key elements of the affiliation include:

  • Unified Vision: A shared, forward-looking strategy focused on regional prosperity and long-term community impact
  • Aligned Missions: Coordination of organizational priorities to ensure investments and initiatives reinforce common goals

  • Maintained Independence: Each organization will retain separate governance structures, financial oversight, and accounting practices while operating in strategic alignment
Initial priorities proposed under this affiliation include expanding Ready Workforce Development programs across both Bristol Tennessee and Virginia City Schools, supporting targeted improvements along the West State Street Corridor, and establishing a formal grantmaking process to identify and invest in high-impact community initiatives.
“This affiliation represents a natural and strategic alignment of two organizations deeply committed to Bristol’s future,” said David Crockett, Board Chairman of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce. “By working together in a more intentional way, we can increase our impact and better support the initiatives that matter most to our region.”
“Advance Bristol Foundation was created to bring private-sector leadership together to invest in meaningful community priorities,” said Cathy Mullins, Chair of Advance Bristol Foundation. “This partnership strengthens our ability to do just that—expanding our reach while ensuring we remain focused on projects that move Bristol forward.”
This affiliation also creates new opportunities for engagement among business leaders, philanthropic partners, and community stakeholders—ensuring a more coordinated and unified approach to addressing both immediate needs and long-term goals.
